DEVELOPING A SUSTAINABLE CITY

Gothenburg is at the cutting edge of sustainable urban planning: a region of knowledge with green system solutionsfor energy, transport, water, chemicals and waste. A master plan has been set up to develop a robust and long-term sustainable city, balancing social, economic and environmental factors.

Urban development is an important tool for connecting the city infrastructure; to increase the use of public transport, reduce energy consumption and the dependency on fossil fuels, recycle more waste and manage natural resources efficiently. It also brings along new and more sustainable companies, innovation, job creation and inhabitant satisfaction.

Thanks to years of urban planning, 45,000 more people in the Gothenburg region live close to public transport today.
