A Biogas hotspot

Göteborg Energi sees biogas as one of the most important renewable fuels of the future and a key to the transition to a fossil-free society.

Biogas has many advantages, the most important that it does not contribute to the greenhouse effect. Also, it can be produced from resources that otherwise would not be exploited, for example sludge, compost, straw and manure.

In Gothenburg, biogas has been used as vehicle fuel for more than 15 years and enough biogas is produced from sewage sludge to fuel 6,000 cars driving 15,000 kms annually.
